Musikgarten, an internationally acclaimed early childhood music program, is offered at Mayflower Montessori. The curriculum focuses on music and movement that encompasses the musical, physical, emotional, social and cognitive growth of children from ages 18 months to 16 years. The program includes a variety of international and national children's music; timeless children's stories; imaginative poetry; creative dances; listening activities from nature; exploration with different rhythm instruments; the use of props such as scarves, hoops, masks and hats; and much more.

The children demonstrate many of the music-oriented activities they have learned throughout the year by performing at our graduation ceremony, Thanksgiving program and Christmas program.

The children are taught and led by Mrs. Colette Fallon, a Childhood Music Specialist with 38 years of experience who has taught at Mayflower Montessori for over 7 years. Mrs. Fallon is a classically trained musician, composer and arranger who plays a variety of music styles and has recorded a CD of her music. Mrs. Fallon is also a landscape, seascape, still life and portrait artist. Her works have been displayed in galleries at the Oregon Coast and in various locations throughout the Portland area.
